This Ethernet device, lets you send messages to any of our LED signs over a Local Area Network (LAN), or halfway around the world, via the Internet. Each of our LED signs comes with an RS-232 serial port on the back. This Ethernet-to-serial adapter plugs into that serial port with our LED Sign Cable, and then you would connect the Ethernet-to-serial adapter to your LAN, using a CAT5 cable. Here's how you might hook up your LED sign to your LAN, or to the Internet...

If you are hooking up an LED sign to your LAN, you just connect the LED sign to one of your LAN's switches. Make sure you have access to someone that knows your network, and can help you setup and configure your network equipment to perform properly, and can provide you with the LED sign's network address. Our LED Sign Software LS, LED Sign Software XL, LED Sign Message and our LED Sign Software Developers Kit are all compatible with this Ethernet-to-serial adapter.
To use this Ethernet-to-serial adapter with one of our LED signs, you will need our LED Sign Cable, to connect from the 9-pin connector on this adapter, to the RJ11 serial connector on the back of our LED signs. You can order the cable by itself, or as part of our LED Sign Serial Kit, which includes the cable and our LS software.
Compatible With Asayo LS and XL Software
Our LS Software and XL Software lets you specify either a COM port or a web address when sending your messages. In the XL software you do this by placing the IP address of your LED sign in the {sendto:...} command, and the XL software does the rest. You can even setup the XL software, so that whenever you place, for example {sales} at the beginning of a message, then the message that follows, will be sent to your LED sign in the sales department, which is connected to your LAN. |
